After the lunch I was brought home by my brother and my hubby was to arrive in his wedding car for the next planned event that was the sagan before the vidaai. The sagan was proceeded smoothly. However there was not one dry eye at home when my father hugged me and broke down. I can never see my father crying and this caused me to cry like a baby. My tears just refused to stop even as my father sat by my side I was still bawling like a baby. I knew my dad was going to cry but I never imagined it will be this much. Anyways my aunt commented that I cried a lot during my departure. I guess so cause although I am a stone's throw away from my parents deep down inside my heart I know things are never gonna be the same again. I had gone from becoming their daughter to a wife. It was a journey I had to make. Right from the day I was born i guess they knew this but its always difficult letting go I guess. The doli left at 4pm from my residence after which my brother (whom took a bet with me that he wont cry) hugged my mother and cried. He lost the bet!

Wedding Day 3: 7th March 1.30pm Lunch @ RJCC
We had actually very little time to recover from event and we were whisked away for the next planned event. Immediately after the ceremony we had to get back to RJCC where we were to go and have a few outdoor snaps with out wedding costume. I taught that would have taken just a while but we were actually held up with that way past one. Our lunch invitation was for one pm but one phone call to my dad rectified that and her said its ok call me when u r ready to walk in.
Well after battling with the gruelling heat of Johor Bahru outside RJCC i was just relieved to be made to sit in the waiting lounge where there was air conditioning and I was sure I wont melt more than I already have. Whilst waiting for my hubby to do his shaving act I was accompanied by my mamiji and my masi who were chaperoning me whilst I cooled of my heels. Was just waiting to kick the shoes off my feet as they were starting to bite the beejepers of my foot. Anyways one by one the janjis passed me on their way to the hall for lunch. In the meantime my hubby had done all his shaving and was back at my side. We waited for a while till
all the janjis had taken their place in the hall and then the time came for us to make out grand entry. The beat of the dhol, the shower of the flowers, the flash bulbs in our eyes and the smiling faces was all that I cd remember. I cant even remember who's who was there lined up to throw flowers on us. A long line of flowers throwers and a lot of flower petals (1kg to be exact) later we arrived at the main table to be given a sumptuous meal. I don't know about my husband but I was really not hungry and still had butterflies in my stomach thinking that the day we had planned for the past 6 months was halfway thru. Then came the time to make a mark on the wedding cake of ours. The magnificant 3 tier cake baked by aunty mary was just beautiful. I felt so sad to actually make a mark on such a wonderful cake but nevertheless did it anyways. Aftetr that we went around every table meeting my guest who came as far as Sungai Petani to be part of my happy day!Wedding Day 3: 7th March Wedding Day 10pm Gurdwara Sahib JB

Everyone keeps telling me that the highlight of the wedding was the four round lavan taken by my husband and myself where the end of the of the fourth round signifies that we are now man and wife and our union witnessed by God. To this day that 4 rounds are still a blur to me as I was high with the happiness of finding my soul mate. I am waiting to watch the video of this highlight to make me believe that this actually happened. Its still a dream to me if you ask me.
Wedding Day 2: 6th March 8pm (RJCC) Jaimala & Jago

Dressed in my red saree, my make up aunty did a wonderful job for my make up and hairdo. Everyone said I looked so different. Unfortunately everyone was so busy enjoying themselves I have very limited pictures of dis night. I am waiting for my photographer to return the pics to me so that I can pick the best and successfully update my blog. The janj arrived at 8pm to the hall. I was given strict instructions to became scarce from the hall when the janj arrived so all i heard was the rousing welcome the dholi's were giving the janj but could not sneak any peak of what actually was happening until the janjj reached the main table n I saw my husband being lead in by his host of relatives. This time he had donned a maroon turban with a maroon colour sherwani with a creme maroon shawl. Needless to say he was dashing as I have always told him he has the height to pull off that get up. Now I hope he believes me! Anyways cut to the chase. My husband and I were asked to come up to the stage for the jaimala. Thank god we were accompanied by all our relatives because i can't tell you and you most certainly can't imagine how odd it was standing in the centre of the stage whilst a sea of people having both their eyes on you. Talk about uncomfort then this was definitely it. The significance of this event was when my hubby put the sindoor on me and we exchanged garlands. I will never forget the kiss he gave me on stage. My hubby being a private person is normally not fond of showing his affections in public so that kiss came as a surprise to me totally. After the ceremony I was requested by my husband's sister to join them at the main table for dinner. The first I have ever seen where the bride is requested by her in laws to be seated together with them on the main table with her husband prior to the wedding ceremony.

My wedding also saw more first. I think this is the first time in any wedding history that the boy side and the girl side has combined their jago ( a pot traditionally adorned with candles which is meant to be carried on the head by a relative to and ladies dance around them to entertain the wedding party). We decided to break tradition and my husband's side brought their jaago down also so u can imagine the double fun had by all. My husband's niece Melinder dressed up like a man and what a cute man she made with her fake beard n turban. I hope my photographer got a shot of her! I again managed to make my husband shake a leg and this time went one step further and got his best man Jagdesh to shake a leg also. He and my husband really set the floor on fire. Its was heart warming to see both families on stage dancing. Our jaago had the symbolic message that this was not only the coming together/combination of 2 jaago but it was also the combination/coming together of 2 families. Wanna see how much fun we all had well..... you either had to be there to witness it because even pictures couldn't do justice to the fun had by all but still here are the pictures.
Till my next update......ciow!

Wedding Day 2: 6th March 5pm Arrival of Baraat/ Milni

One by one all my relatives and friends arrived and all were anxious to see the janj and more so to see the groom. The janj arrived at 5pm and were welcomed by dhol and with lots of shor. Needless to say once someone said janj is here everyone at my place stood at attention and some tip toed just to get a glance at the groom. Dressed to kill in a navy blue sherwani and yellow turban and sehra was the smart groom hiding behind his equally smartly dressed best man. I have to admit here I had never imagined that my husband will look so good in a turban and beard. This is the same thing everyone had been telling me once my cousin took off the sehra for him once he sat for tea. I was not allowed to come in front of him so all I did was peak thru windows and the shoulder of my make up aunty who tried her best to cover me as I sneaked a peak. Wow he looked good. After witnessing all this I was whisk away by make up aunty to start preparing for my jaimala at Royal Johor Country Club at night at 8pm so I have no idea what happen after i went up. I will have to see the video to know what else transpired while I was applying grease paint on my face.

Wedding Day 1: 5th March 8pm Chuda

Chuda is a ceremony where my mama & mami will put the wedding bangles in my hand. These bangles are dipped in milk and then proceeded to be put slowly in my hand. I choose a red bangle set as my wedding suit was red. ( I decided to go traditional and wear all red for my wedding rather than pink or gold). Incidentally my mum in law also choose a red suit for my to wear during my temple ceremony that is was scheduled on 8th March 2009 from 5pm to 7pm. will blog about that as the days go on but for right now
back to my chuda.
I was adorned with a red suit and had decided to wear the jewellery set that my masi had brought all the way from me from England. After which my mama & mami put a scarf on my head as a sign of blessings. After this my mama proceeded to put the bangles on my hand while my mamiji assisted him. He did such a fine job the bangles did not cut me at all.
The most emotional moment of the night was when my dad hugged me and cried after the bangle ceremony was over. He made not only me but everyone cry. Not one person I can vouch had a dry eye after witnessing the moment between a father and his daughter. A moment of happiness, pride and sorrow all mixed together in a blender of emotions. After all that was a little dancing sessions and for the first time i got my father to hold my hands and dance. I can proudly say no one have ever managed that. Well after this I think I can call my self the dancing expert as I have so far managed to cajole my husband and father to dance. Incidentally both of them share the same birth month and are born only one day apart ( dad 20th October, Hubby 21st October) so safe to say they share the same characteristics. Another highlight of the night was when my nephew burst out crying as if someone had whacked him silly. All because my mamji had put mehndi on his hand when he brought his hand forward and after he washed it off and the colour refused to go off he cried like a baby. Thank god he fast forgot about it but he was a sight walking around with his hand high as if it was hurt. How we all laughed at this.
After all the revelry everyone was just dying to retire early as it has been a pretty hectic day and tom is equally hectic.
Wedding Day 1: 5th March 1pm Mehndi

I have yet to receive any pics for my mehndi ceremony yet. My relatives were so tired that while I sat the torturous hours of putting henna on my hand, some of my relatives decided to go have a shut eye while my brother and dad was busy with decorating the car to be used for the wedding day(picture). Well safe to say my mehndi was very uneventful and painless as Sharon, my mehndi professional did my mehndi so effortlessly and fast I did not have to sit for hours like some brides have to. She even wrote my husband's name on my palm. It was not hidden so as to make it very easy for my husband to find it. I kept on my mehndi for a total of 6 hours and when i scraped it off the colour was such a dark shade of red I was so happy. It is a believe that the darker the shade the more a mum-in law will love her daughter in law. The joke was that even before she put it on for me i told Sharon the colour is definitely gonna be the darkest shade of red because I already know that my mum in law loves me a lot. Don't believe me well wait n see the pics of my mehndi. Will post as soon as I get them. Then you tell me whether its true or not!
Wedding Day 1: 5th March 11am Maiyaan

As I did mention before, this is a day all my relatives have been waiting for impatiently, the day they get to bully me with all the haldi they want to. I was dreading it but later calmed down and was actually inviting those who wanted to smear my whole face with haldi. But I must say everyone loves me cause I didn't get it half as
bad as my husband did. Even his head was not spared and smeared with haldi. Kesian die. After seeing what he went thru all I can say is thank god my relatives are not that so revengeful. Anyways the maiyaan proceeded well. I thank Aunty Phyllis & Margaret for such a beautiful coloured rangoli (picture). The highlight of the event was when it was time for my nephew and niece to put haldi on me, both of them aimed for my nose and plonked all the haldi on my cute little nose. Needless to say that was the part that was the whitest after I had my bath. My niece went one step ahead and put oil in my eyes instead of my hair. Hmmm miscalculation or on purpose? I wonder! I have to get to the bottom of this matter soon. Cant have any conspiracy theories

After the haldi and oil that was put on me, it was time to bath and savour the sweet rice made special for this occasion. I was pampered and fed by all my relataives and vice verse until all the rice in the plate was finished. It is traditionally said that the person who takes the last bite off the plate will be next in line to be married. I cant remember actually who had the last bite but I think it was either my uncle ranjit or my brother n both are married with kids. Oops!
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
Well as I have been pestered by so many to get off my lazy bums and start blogging about my wedding. I still haven't collected all the pics of the wedding but since everyone is more impatient than I am to blog I shall attempt to start with what I have gathered. Oops! My brithday
February 23, 2009 I turned 31 years. I can be categorised as a married Old hag now! Well its still better than being an old maid!Hmmm in all the wedding preparations and work I now only realised I had forgot to blog about my birthday. This year my birthday was very carefully planned by my darling husband and if it had not been for him who reminded my parents about it they would have complete forgotten completely. Not that I can blame them, they were doing so much running around planning such an extravagant wedding that there was nothing else on their minds other than our wedding. My birthday this year also saw me doing a few silly things and hurting a person who loves me the most (sorry sayang from the bottom of my heart). However we all learn form mistakes and I have sure learnt from mine. A million thanks to my darling hubby, both my mums and dads (I have two mums and dads now....), my brother and sister in laws (JB & KL), Melinder, Jasvinder, Kelvin, Preeti, Masi & Masardji, Mama, Mami n baby aeshlyn and all my friends for all their wishes (phone and sms), blessing and love on my birthday! My birthday was made even more special by some surprise guest. As we were over with dinner, it was time to cut the cake and just as I had cut my cake Uncle & Aunty Paramjeet walked into the restaurant accompanied by Jessy. Its was truly a bliss to see them there and needless to say they joined us for cake and dinner. Dis is one birthday I shall never forget because it was the first birthday I spent with my husband thus it is close to my heart just as he is and always will be. I LOVE U HUBBY!

A Fairy Tale
March 7th 2009. A day that we have been waiting for ever since our registry in August 2008. At that time 7th March seemed a millennium away. When the new year dawned, March 7th still seemed far off but as the days got nearer, anxieties as well as temper flared. Panic buttons were
being pressed everywhere and extra care was taken to make sure our wedding goes on smoothly. Finally the day arrived and went without me even able to blink or bat an eyelid. I still draw a blank whenever someone mentions a particular event in my own wedding as I felt it was almost a dream. In the next few blogs over the next few days I shall try to recapture the lustre of our wedding.
Be patient my friends.
